There are only a few moments in your life that will stay in your mind forever.

One of those moments occurred for me at the Western Country Cousin “Net talk” at Quartzfest 2012.

We had 45 minutes to explain what we are about.  We had several speakers lined up for the” Net Talk” We were scheduled just before the dinner sponsored by the WCCnet.

Cousin Cal KT7A, Dennis WB6CGJ, Archie WA6IGX, Ed WK7ED and I N5SWE stood up and spoke with our hearts. The special feelings and aurora of compassion I have not seen before at an event such as this..

Each and every speaker spoke from their heart. It was beautiful. I only wish that we had a video recording their compassion and sincerity in their voice. They all stated their dedication and appreciation for the cousins nets. I am not just speaking of just the Western Country Cousins net but all the Cousin nets. The Southern CC, Western CC, North Western and the Mid-Western Cousins. They were all covered.

After the “net talk” we had a highly successful dinner sponsored by the WCC. We had over 120 people enjoy pot luck with main course of Hickory smoked beef brisket supplied by the WCC net and the side dishes were great!

QuartzFest was a huge success. We had 611 registered people for the event. Many guest speakers and seminars, including Fred Lloyd AA7BQ  and his YL Robin, owner and founder of QRZ.com. Look up his call on QRZ.

I did have a problem. Someone decided to drive along side of my rig, didn’t see the guy lines with pink and red flags along there lengths. My upper support mast broke about 18 inches from the top of next section (fiberglass). I had to take it all down,  resolder one feed line connection, reverse top section and put it back up. It was still up about 40 feet.

The 75 meter band is doing its yearly winter thing. Goes long for a while and then short. We had two stations check in from Hawaii, one from Volcano on Tuesday and one from Honolulu Wednesday. Both were after 10:00PM Pacific.
